One to Watch #06 Neverwinter
Neverwinter is an upcoming free-to-play Online Action RPG by Cryptic in partnership with Perfect World Entertainment
Why you should be interested
Neverwinter sees the latest gaming installment with in the Forgotten Realms IP, which see’s players fighting in around the games namesake, the city of Neverwinter to restore it to its former glory after a cataclysmic event.
While you may confuse this as part of the new trend of online action rpg based games, Neverwinter isn’t quite that exactly. Neverwinter for one is a truely action based game, meaning it touts that it relies less on random number generators and more so on your skill.
It’s also not a MMO, but mutliplayer instead - allowing up to 5 players to group together and take on various instances.
One of the other key features of the game is The Foundry, which will allow players to build and share their own dungeons and instances, which hasn’t had much information on it released but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
Many customers of Cryptic studious may not be too happy with the initial product content of their more recent releases but with Neverwinter that’s not really an issue, as its free to play.
The game play of Neverwinter combines full on action with level and gear based progression more typical with RPG’s. The combat itself limits itself to a small list of of different, unique and powerful skills with in different categories of use from “at wills” or readily available and “ultimates” which require charging up, with skills also unique to classes.
Their also intending for the cash shop to be cosmetic and convenience only so we could be in for a treat.
