Guild Wars 2 Pre-Purchase sales exceed 1 million, with 400 concurrent users online during the Head Start
Time released an article today with official quotes from NCsoft confirming that the Pre-Purchase (Standard/Digital Deluxe/Collectors Edition) sales have indeed exceeded a million sales. This number does not factor in Pre-Order sales which gave a one day head start or just normal sales since.
In any case, publisher NCsoft is sharing preliminary numbers for all you MMO comparison wonks: Over one million players paid to play the game ($60 standard, $150 collector’s, and it’s free-to-play thereafter) during the three-day early start. And that’s not counting the one-day preorders or, obviously, whatever sales the game enjoys today as it officially launches.
Concurrent users, thats users online at any moment during the Head Start was around 400 thousand which is a significant number to have online at any one moment .
Considering this is not reflective of the total number of players actually playing the game but just the average amount of players on at any given time it is actually quite a substantial figure.
So that’s sales, but how many people are actually playing this thing? During the headstart phase, NCsoft says demand for the game topped 400,000 simultaneous online players, calling it a “record-breaking” figure for an MMO pre-launch.
Congratulations to ArenaNet on a very succesful start for Guild Wars 2!
