Gamers on YouTube: Evolving Video Consumption
Google has published its findings on its studies of gaming video related viewership on Youtube. What the findings show amongst many things are that the amount of content put out / viewed post launch are roughly equal to that of preview videos for a title, pre-launch. Viewing mediums are also very strong on mobile and tablet devices for tutorial type videos, indicating behavioral habits of those viewing.
What will be interesting to see, is how video game companies react to the findings, if at all. Not too long ago Nintendo announced it’s decision to prevent user created content using its titles, studies like this one may help them reverse the decision.
